The Pink Trailer Campaign: $125,000 for the McGrath Foundation
The Pink Trailer campaign was created in memory of our Alecia, who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this year. She was always proud of Wagga Trucks and believed in us. Her strength and care for others inspired us to do something that could make a difference for other families facing the same challenges.
During her illness, the support Alecia received from the McGrath Cancer Care Nurses made a real difference to her and to the family. We wanted to make sure other families could receive that same level of care and support when they need it most.
We began with a plan to raise $50,000 for the McGrath Foundation between August and October. The Pink Trailer was created in her honour and featured at the Henty Machinery Field Days, where it drew enormous attention and support.
As momentum grew, we introduced the Pink Raffle to help reach our target. Local businesses across the region came on board with prizes and donations that reflected the best of our community spirit. The response was incredible.
The support kept building. We created the Pink Hair Mixer event to be held in the final week of the fundraiser, a night of connection, colour and community that included both the raffle draw, a good old- fashioned bake sale, and a live auction.
Thanks to the generosity of our local community, the event was a huge success - the auction alone raised $24,000, the raffle just over $15,000, and the overall event total reached $42,798.43.
By the end of the campaign, with the money contributed by Wagga Trucks from the trailer sales matched by Freighter Group, the generosity of individuals and businesses who donated, the mixer event with raffle and auction, the total amount raised for the McGrath Foundation reached $125,000, more than double our original goal.
Every dollar goes directly to fund McGrath Cancer Care Nurses who provide vital support to individuals and families across Australia.
This campaign has meant a great deal to our family and to our team. Alecia’s care for others continues to inspire us, and we are proud to know her memory will help others receive the same kindness and compassion that meant so much to her and to us.
To everyone who donated, contributed prizes, volunteered or simply showed their support, thank you. This result belongs to all of you.
