Qualified Heavy Vehicle Technician

Wagga Trucks is seeking to appoint a Heavy Vehicle Technician. The Technician will be a senior personnel and will be an important part of the workshop. You will be a mentor and responsible for apprentice mechanics at different times throughout your employment at Wagga Trucks. You will be expected to coordinate resources and liaise with the Workshop Foreman to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.

Typical duties include;

  • Be fit for work and specifically not impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  • Conduct a complete range of motor vehicle diagnoses and fault finding.
  • Use knowledge and skills to acquire automotive parts and accessories for all automotive repairs and maintenance as required.
  • Use knowledge and skills to assist repairs in a cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Carry out a range of detailed motor vehicle inspections when required.
  • Conduct automotive servicing and repairs.
  • Conduct general motor vehicle maintenance.
  • Have a solid understanding of all fault reports, maintenance and inspections forms.
  • Differentiate between Warranty and Non-Warranty work and liaise with the Service Foreman.
  • Work with the Warranty Administration Clerk for all Warranty work and assure all paperwork, new parts and old parts are filled out and labelled correctly.
  • Take photos of work when required.
  • Ensure you are Clocking on and off of all customer jobs.
  • Ensure you are completing paperwork at a high standard so the service department isn’t delayed.
  • Ensure you are obtaining purchase order numbers for all sublets.
  • Ensure you are working with the parts interpreters to book all parts on efficiently and not missing anything.
  • Ensure a high standard is being delivered in all repairs, servicing, inspections and maintenance.
  • Operate workshop hoists in accordance with Wagga Trucks Health and Safety Policies.
  • Conduct workshop housekeeping as required.
  • Provide automotive technical advice as required.
  • Assist with in house training and supervision as required.
  • Assist other staff members as required.
  • Any other tasks as required for this position or other reasonable tasks as required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.

NEW & USED VEHICLE SALESPERSON

The new & used vehicle salesperson is responsible for the efficient & profitable sales of our new & used trucks & trailers.  The salesperson will carry out this responsibly & accomplish objectives through the optimum utilisation of space, time, merchandise, advertising & personnel.

Duties

CONDUCT & COMPLIANCE

  • Act in the company’s best interest & exercise optimum due care at all times
  • Maintain a high standard of ethics & professionalism
  • Protect & promote the company’s good name & reputation
  • Comply with all dealership & Fair Trading policies & procedures at all times
  • Comply & co-operate with company OH&S policies
  • Work unsupervised, reporting to the dealer principals
  • Be punctual & reliable
  • Perform all duties to the best of one’s ability

SALES PROCEDURES

  • Ensure no customer leaves the premises without being assisted
  • Respond to all enquiries promptly & professionally
  • Achieve monthly sales budgets, targets & performance standards
  • Assist in the formulation of these sales budgets & targets
  • Initiate &/or attend sales meetings &/or training
  • Monitor & manage daily sales traffic
  • Maintain a daily log of the source of all sales enquiries
  • Set up an ongoing follow-up program of all previous walk-in or telephone enquiries
  • Implement an ongoing prospecting program for all new business clients
  • Report & evaluate sales
  • Ensure all sales, quotes & trade-ins are verified & approved by a dealer principal
  • Promptly supply accurate and complete sales documentation (customer details, repairs required, registration particulars, delivery timeframe etc) to & liaise with administration staff.
  • Provide workshop with appropriate paperwork stipulating necessary repairs & extras required & liaise with the workshop manager, Michael Murphy to complete repair work within a mutually suitable timeframe.
  • Follow up the progress of all sold vehicles & assist in the preparation of new & used truck deliveries.
  • Test drive vehicles at least 48hours (where possible) prior to delivery to ensure all jobs are completed.
  • Endeavour to have sold vehicles & all paperwork ready 24 hours prior to delivery.
  • Follow up sales to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Research & become familiar with new products
  • Drive new & used vehicles for product familiarity on a regular basis
  • Assist when necessary with deliveries & vehicle movements associated with sales such as driving a truck to the weighbridge or engineer etc.
  • Ensure general cleanliness & presentation of the yard, foyer & sales office.

ADVERTISING

  • Source sales & promotional material as required
  • Prepare classified & display advertising as per dealership budget

Health and Safety and Personal Protective Equipment Requirements

  • Familiarise yourself with Wagga Trucks H&S policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Wagga Trucks Health & Safety policies at all times.
  • Report all hazards and H&S issues to the Health and Safety Coordinator immediately.
  • Maintain the working premises in a safe and clean environment.

APPRENTICE HEAVY VEHICLE TECHNICIAN

Position Objectives

The Technician will be a will be an important part of the workshop.  Apprentices will learn the trade and skills to be able to service and maintain many different Heavy Vehicles throughout their employment at Wagga Trucks. They will be supervised by a Qualified Heavy Vehicle Technician who will act as a mentor to the Apprentice. They will be expected to coordinate resources and liaise with their supervisor to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
